Naming Ìfẹ́

Ìfẹ́ in Yoruba means love.

And Ìfẹ́ is central to no.name.sound’s work.

It is through our love for justice, our environments, and each other that we gather.

As our first collective offering, we hope Ìfẹ́ amplifies the voices and minds of those organising for justice, in service of the oppressed, for community and care over extraction.

Through the naming of Ìfẹ́, we honour the new generation, as well as the trust-based infrastructures and slow, relational practice that has held and guided us as no.name.sound, shaped by the wisdom and generosity of Multitudes Co-op. We hope to nurture a new generation of community stewardship (governance) of protest sound systems - rooted in the ethos of ‘small acts’ and a relational, community-first approach to technology and social justice, grounded in Black feminist liberatory practices.
